I have always had an avid interest in floristry and in 2012 I embarked on a City and Guilds Level 2 in Floristry. This gave me a basic knowledge of floristry and I spent the next year doing a level 3. During this time I embarked on some work experience within a floristry shop which helped me to improve the skills I had learnt during the course.
A couple of my early designs
I especially enjoyed the floral design aspect of the work I was doing – using different mediums and experimenting wih different techniques. In 2014 I made the decision to begin a Professional Floristry and Floral Design degree. Whilst doing my degree I took on The Florist at Chatburn and it has become a busy and successful florist and gift shop.

This May I finish my degree and graduate in July. Next year I plan to do PGCE which will enable me to teach the subject to other students. I will still keep the shop running with help from my very talented assistant Emily.
